MUFG Union Bank FP&A Finance Manager in Monterey Park, California
MUFG Union Bank, N.A. seeks an FP&A Finance Manager for its Monterey Park, CA location responsible for refining and understanding the interdependencies of the financial processes and controls across various disciplines including Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Program Financial Management and Strategic Planning Activities within the Integrated Services for the Americas department; providing thought leadership on key objectives and develop recommendations and goals for the integration of the strategic vision set by senior management; assessing the complexity of the organization, including all upstream and downstream impacts and end-to-end processes and interdependencies in order to develop and present fact-based recommendations to senior management before translating management goals into tangible financial deliverables; preparing complex analytical and financial reports and planning and analyzing expense and capital expenditures; utilizing Hyperion, PeopleSoft and Business Objects to perform financial planning (forecasting, budgeting & variance analysis), financial & management reporting, and financial analysis (expense management and decision support analysis); leading a cross-functional team to identify process improvement opportunities, automate financial processes, design financial reporting tools, and help lead core FP&A activities and improvement of financial processes; performing strategic analyses, including financial modeling and business case development where applicable by synthesizing large data sets (10,000 records) in order to translate data into meaningful information utilizing Access, SQL, or Excel; and perform advanced functions in Excel (macros, index match, lookups and nested if’s statements & pivot tables; liaising with key finance and other functional leaders to support initiatives through implementation, including tracking progress, designing and monitoring key metrics, tracking performance against milestones and providing change management guidance; managing the budget and forecast process as well as technology projects, including associated analysis of financial results; developing financial summaries; perform month end close activities including accruals by applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); and creating and delivering financial presentations to senior management for ISA using PowerPoint; acting as a strategic advisor within the finance team by advising on business cases, cost containment strategies, trends and financial performance; and supporting special projects and business combinations by constructing appropriate financial analyses.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field (or foreign equivalent degree).
Experience: 5 years of experience in the banking/financial services industry utilizing Hyperion and Business Objects to perform financial planning (forecasting, budgeting & variance analysis), financial & management reporting, and financial analysis (expense management and decision support analysis); applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including accruals for month-end close; leading cross-functional teams to automate financial processes and design financial reporting tools; synthesizing large data sets (10,000 records) in order to translate data into meaningful information utilizing Access, SQL, or Excel; performing advanced functions in Excel (macros, index match, lookups and nested if’s statements & pivot tables); and creating and presenting senior management-level financial presentations using PowerPoint.
